Now there is no denying it. Wood dust has been proven to be the main occupational cause of nasal cancer since about 1965. Any exposure is dangerous. Asthma is already far too common among cabinetmakers, and excessive exposure to wood dust is also associated with lung and stomach cancers.

So don't let your employer get away with putting your health in danger. Laws are already exist which prescribe a safe level of wood dust that should not be exceeded. If you think your workplace is producing excessive dust and you are not being provided with proper protection, contact your Union without delay on 9329 1577.

If you are concerned about previous exposure, make your doctor aware so, that you have a record of your concern and your health can be checked. Also contact your Union if you have had excessive exposure to wood dust in the past, and if you have been diagnosed with a nasal or respiratory cancer that may have been caused by your job.
